About Me!

Hello! Thank you for visiting my website! My name is Mazi Zachary, and I am a professional violinist. I have been playing the violin for twelve years (and counting!). I started gigging when I was in ninth grade and started teaching private lessons when I was in tenth grade! For the entirety of my time at Virginia Tech, I have been teaching group classes and private lessons for the Virginia Tech String Project. This program has allowed me to experience countless hours of real-life teaching with grades 3+. I have completed my BA in Music Education and will complete my MA in Curriculum and Instruction in Spring 2025.

Professionally, I am a member of the National Association for Music Education and the American String Teachers Association, and I am a Student Advisor on the National String Project Consortium Board. In April 2024, I was honored to receive the “Outstanding Contributions to Music Education at Virginia Tech” award!

Aside from my educational experiences, I love to perform! I was the concertmaster for the Virginia Tech Philharmonic Orchestra, and I play in chamber groups frequently. I have performed at weddings, dinners, church services, and more! I also used to volunteer at a local retirement home to play for the people in assisted living. More recently, I volunteered to play for the Montgomery County Public Library’s Summer Garden Tour.

My goals for the future are to continue running my private studio, and to continue performing any way I can! I am also exploring the avenue of arts administration.

Please feel free to reach out to me via email/phone/Facebook messenger with any questions/event proposals, and I look forward to working with you! I am also happy to send along a copy of my resume if you are interested in a more detailed list of my professional experiences.

Thanks for being here! :)
